In a statement issued by United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) National President, Ar. Donato B. Magcale, FUAP, SFRIA, AA, APEC Ar., the Philippine Supreme Court (SC)-Second Division upheld the validity and constitutionality of the exclusive authority of architects over architectural documents as it reaffirms its finality through their obtainment of the certified true copy of the courtโs earlier decision and resolution dated 30 October 2024 on Wednesday, January 15.
The resolution, as welcomed by the community of Filipino architects and general public, recognizes the enactment of Section 20 of the Architecture Act of 2004, that only registered and licensed architects may prepare, sign, and seal architectural documents. The ruling favoring the architects is a triumph to the architectural profession, as it highlights the distinctive role they specialize in the construction industry which in return, ensures that quality standards of safety and design integrity are met.
Meanwhile, the UAP through its National President, urged its members to remain and uphold highest ethical standards and maintain professionalism and dignity in partaking all discussions or engagements surrounding the matter to respect the sanctity of the resolution and all parties involved in the case.
